University Scholars Programs

Global Engineering Perspectives Scholar Program (GEPS)

The Global Engineering Perspectives Scholars Program offers students the opportunity to benefit from Bucknell’s liberal arts environment and strong culture of study abroad programs. This scholars program exists to encourage students to engage in coursework and experiences that cultivate intercultural competency, and recognize the students that do. Students who satisfy the requirements will have "Global Engineering Perspectives Scholar" added to their transcript. The requirements are: (a) demonstrated proficiency in a foreign language (200+ FL course or equivalent), (b) participation in an abroad experience, (c) completion of a minimum of three courses designated as GBCC (Global Connections) and/or CCFL (Foreign Language), (d) completion of a minimum of three engineering credits, and (e) submission of a reflective impact statement and application by the last day of February of your graduation year. If you have an interest in studying abroad and/or studying a foreign language, this would be a great opportunity!

Grand Challenge Scholars Program (GCSP)

The GCSP is a special initiative of the National Academy of Engineering, which is the preeminent engineering organization in the world. The National Academy of Engineering has identified fourteen "Grand Challenges" that engineers face to make progress toward a sustainable world — one that provides all people with more than just their basic needs and aspires to a higher level of living. The Grand Challenges Scholars Program at Bucknell seeks to educate students about the Grand Challenges, instill in them a passion for solving these and other important interdisciplinary problems, and equip them to pursue the Grand Challenges through their research and work. GCS fulfill requirements aligned with a grand challenge of their choice in five different areas: research, service learning, entrepreneurial experience, global perspective, and coursework. GC Scholars who complete the program requirements receive recognition on their transcript and a letter from the National Academy of Engineering upon graduation.
