Bucknell in Athens, Greece
The joint Bucknell/PSU Athens semester study-abroad program consists in an annual spring program, open to qualified juniors and seniors. The program is led by either a Bucknell or Penn State faculty member in Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies who directs a program of courses centered upon ancient Greek culture, history, mythology, and archaeology, including also his/her own fields of expertise.
Four full courses are offered in the program and a short course in modern Greek is taught at the beginning of every semester for .5 credit.
All courses are designed to take full advantage of the program’s location in beautiful Greece, offering numerous day and overnight field trips to sites around Greece, such as Crete, Sparta, Delphi, Olympia, and of course, Athens.
All courses receive Bucknell University grades and credit. Students are housed in flats in central Athens and pay Bucknell tuition plus room fees.
