This course explores the theme of extractivism in the global economy through contemporary Francophone African literature, cinema and visual media. It examines large-scale resource extraction and its long-term social and environmental consequences, focusing on cultural representations of exploitation, ecological harm and community resistance, while critically exploring tensions between economic development, environmental justice and the future of African societies.
