This course analyzes the rise of a new global authoritarian state, characterized by economic monopolies, political violence and heightened international conflict. By combining political economy with psychoanalysis from a historical and comparative perspective, students will examine the forces driving modern authoritarianism. Crosslisted as ECON 262.
