Bucknell in Athens, Greece
The joint Bucknell/Penn State Athens semester program is offered each spring and is open to qualified juniors and sophomores. The program is led each year by a Bucknell or Penn State faculty member.
Through Bucknell’s partnership with College Year in Athens (CYA), students have access to CYA’s extensive curriculum, including more than 70 courses across a wide range of disciplines, such as the social sciences, humanities, environmental studies, business and the arts. In addition to enrolling in 1–2 Bucknell or Penn State-directed courses, students may select from CYA’s diverse offerings to design an academic experience tailored to their interests and goals.
While the program provides broad academic flexibility, it remains an excellent fit for Classics & Ancient Mediterranean Studies majors and minors, offering proximity to archaeological sites, museums and expert faculty.
Courses are deeply integrated with the Athens setting and include numerous academic excursions, day trips and multi-day field studies to destinations such as Crete, Sparta, Delphi and Olympia, as well as throughout Athens. Students are housed in centrally located apartments in Athens.
